The rules of fair play.
By creating an account or entering the competition, you agree to these terms. They apply alongside the Privacy Notice, the Competition Rules and the Safeguarding Policy.
1. Eligibility
- Open to students aged 13–19 who are enrolled at a post-primary school or further education college at the time of entry.
- Entrants under 18 require parent/guardian consent, confirmed via the consent form.
- Teachers and schools register on behalf of their students as a Teacher Champion.
- The inaugural programme operates in Northern Ireland. Participation and expansion into additional territories will be announced as the programme grows.
2. Account and security
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure. Don't share your account. Tell us at info@bellmedia.ie if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Entries and intellectual property
- We do not claim ownership of your intellectual property.
- You retain ownership of the intellectual property in your entry.
- By entering, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display your entry for the purposes of running, judging and publicising the competition, including in the Hall of Fame.
- You confirm your entry is original work and does not infringe third-party rights.
- Sponsor use of your entry beyond public display requires your separate, written consent.
- Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any entrant's intellectual property to Bell Media Limited or to any sponsor unless agreed separately in writing.
4. Conduct
Be respectful to other entrants, teachers, mentors, judges and staff. We may suspend or remove accounts for harassment, plagiarism, cheating, or other behaviour that breaches these terms or the safeguarding policy.
4.1 AI Use
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is governed by the published Competition Rules applicable to each competition. Where disclosure is required, entrants must accurately declare the nature and extent of AI assistance used.
5. Judging
Judging is carried out by independent industry judges against a published rubric. Judges declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves where appropriate. The full Competition Rules and Judging Code of Conduct apply.
6. Prizes
Prizes are awarded at category level and at the National Final. Prize details are published on the Prizes page and confirmed in writing on award.
7. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Subject to the foregoing, our total liability to any user is limited to £100 for users who have paid no fees, or otherwise the value of fees paid by that user during the preceding 12 months.
8. Termination
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, with notice except in serious cases.
9. Complaints
Complaints can be sent to info@bellmedia.ie. We acknowledge complaints within five working days and aim to provide a substantive response within 30 days. Appeals against judging outcomes are handled under the Judging Code of Conduct.
10. Force Majeure
Bell Media Limited shall not be responsible for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure results from events beyond its reasonable control, including, without limitation, severe weather, public health emergencies, industrial action, cyber incidents, failures of third-party suppliers, utility failures, government action and other events beyond its reasonable control.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll notify registered users of material changes by email and post a dated version history below.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
